Yo!
I’ll start with my achievements in the Cougars - Tigers rivalry. Defense first, I got 2 tackles and a forced fumble playing Outside Linebacker and Cornerback. I didn’t start at any position today. On offense, I played at Tight End mainly although I did play at Wide Receiver a little. At Tight End I got this one awesome block where I hit the guy and he fell over backwards like I had thrown a chair at him and nailed him in the chest. At Wide Receiver the ball was thrown to me once. The end result: 35yd TD! Let me describe the moment to you.
Eddie is in at Quarterback, he calls the passing play. I line up and when the ball is snapped I run the fly route. The Cornerback is pre-occupied with the other receiver on my side running a post pattern. I’m wide open and Eddie throws it in my general direction. For you to understand how this works out I need to describe the weather just a little bit. It is raining and there is a decent wind that is coming and going so a pass play is kind of risky. So, with that out of the way I can continue. The Cornerback and Safety both see the ball and run to try and go for the interception. They are both headed my way and the only thing I’m thinking as I watch the ball fly towards my hands is, “I don’t wanna get hit, I really don’t wanna get hit!” The Safety and Corner both jump for the ball 5 yards away from me. They collide and trip over each other as I grab the ball when it hits my numbers. I turn and jog 6 steps into the back of the end zone (I caught it around the 4).
I give the ball to the ref as all the guys in the huddle are patting my back and giving me high fives. Once we finish up the drive by going for the 1 pt. conversion we all head back to the sidelines. As I run up all I can think is, “No way, I caught a TD. No way.” I get back to the sideline and coach grabs me and lifts me up. Everyone is saying, “Wow, that was a beautiful catch. I thought for sure it would be picked off because you stopped running but wow that was a great catch.” All through halftime and even after the game was over they were still saying how incredible the catch was. Coach even mentioned it in his post game comments; he said, “…Josh had a great first Touchdown catch, and he’s not even a starter…” It was awesome and my friend Josh’s (yes, we have the same name, ironic isn’t it?) Dad greeted me for dinner as we walked up to the Crispers outside dining area with the TD signal, both hands raised above the head.
It was awesome, if you have any thoughts about this I’d appreciate it if you’d post them. I will post all of the future game scores on this one as comments unless I do something else that’s worth more than a sentence. Sorry about the length but I wanted to share every second of it with you.

It was a great catch, Josh! As your mom, I was watching from the stands, thinking… catching in the rain is hard, I hope he doesn’t drop it, I hope he doesn’t drop it, YES! He caught it! Me-ma and I jumped up cheering. Fun to watch! Glad you are enjoying playing football and making plays.

“Sweet Hands Simons” is his name.
Touchdowns are his game.
Making it look easy
in the wind and rain.
Laying down blocks
his victims take a fall.
This kid is the man

The game after this one was against the Bears, we won it 26 - 12. I got a tackle but that is about it.

Next game: Cougars 12 - Cowboys 6. We won it in overtime. I didn’t do anything really important.

Game 6: Cougars 28 - Tigers 7. I got two tackles. One was a sack. Dropped a pass in the end zone, it should have been pass interference.
