Hello,
If you’re reading this you are a genius, because you have decided to look at my blog when I haven’t posted anything on here in months. In this post I am going to explain to you why I like Facebook, and why I think Mozilla Firefox is superior to Internet Explorer.
My first subject, Facebook, the site that has consumed me for the past few months. The reason I like Facebook so much is two things really, but I’m going to expand it into four. These four reasons are: re-meeting people from my past, staying in the loop with my current friends, getting to chat with friends, and playing games.
Here’s a little fact, of the friends on my current friend list, I haven’t seen 20 of them in the last year. Of those 20, it’s been over two years for 14 of them. Of those 14, I haven’t seen 9 of them in over five years. Considering how young I am, that’s a long time.
Staying in the loop is vital to everyone, nobody likes to be the odd man out. Nobody wants to be in the dust. That’s why everyone has TVs and Computers, and radios, and most people still have the newspaper. Because they want to stay in the loop. Since joining Facebook I’ve known about more activities going on in town that I knew about the entire previous year, and I’ve only been on it since mid-November 2008, and it’s late-January 2009. So it’s a very helpful resource to have (February 24th is free pancake day at IHOP!!!!!!!!!!).
Facebook has this chat feature that is pretty cool, it’s not as good as it could be, but I like it. Granted, I’d take Google Talk over Facebook Chat anyday, but it’s still pretty good. Through the chat feature I’ve been able to hook up with one of my friends that I haven’t seen in 8 years… That’s a long time folks. It’s completely private and safe from prying eyes, so you can share your info freely and not be afraid of scams and hackers coming to your inbox/door. It’s so private, that you can’t even view a history of your chats. Now that’s hardcore.
Finally, the games. They have that saying about saving the best for last… and here’s my best. My favorite game (they’re called apps on Facebook) is Mouse hunt, it’s addicting, and very annoying, and that’s what I love about it. You set your trap, bait it, and wait for mice that give you gold, points, and bonus rewards. Another fun app to do is Superpoke. Superpoke is an app where you can do meaningless things to your friends (ie. karate chop, throw a sheep at, give chocolate to, pinch, tase, enjoy happy hour, etc…). So that’s fun to do. My favorite thing to do to someone is go Chuck Norris on them.
So that’s what I like about Facebook. Here’s what I think about Mozilla Firefox, and why it’s better than IE.
Mozilla Firefox is a much more intelligent browser than Internet Explorer (called IE here for brevity). It has a feature that lets you go to the most visited sites… a really useful thing when you go to the same site over and over again. It remembers usernames and passwords (usernames are automatic, passwords aren’t) for you, which again is helpful for someone who goes to the same site multiple times a day. It’s easier to maneuver than IE, and came up with the idea of tabs before IE. IE can view the new sites, but Firefox does it better and much faster. On my laptop using Mozilla Firefox, I can get to stuff online that other people using a similar computer with the same features (the only difference is IE) take twice the time to get there. I can access the internet faster, get to sites faster, and download stuff faster. So that’s why I like Mozilla Firefox over IE.
Thanks for your time… Genius.
