Hello,

I’m taking a break from Fantasy Football Draft Prep. to update all (if any) of my loyal readers.  My Dad and I are in a Christian Fantasy Football League.  As you might have thought it is in fact related to Jesus.  We call it, “Jesus Loves Football.”  We know this because our diligent commissioner/dictator is also an Episcopalian priest who went to Law School with my Dad.  It’s a long story.  To shorten things up, last year was our first year and we did alright until the playoffs.  In the playoffs we stank so bad that we couldn’t even score enough points to come close to winning.  So anyways, this year is going to be different because I have scouted out so many players that when I am dreaming I see numbers and names of players.  We are still trying to come up with a name for our commish this year, we used Kim Jong Il last year.  If you can think of any then please leave me a comment.  That’s about it for now.

I am going to be in a play called Fiddler on the Roof (perhaps you’ve heard of it) Jr.  It is a version of the movie and play for kids to do.  I am the “villain” of the play.  I will be doing two roles though.  My official title would be Papa/Constable.  I am only in one singing/dancing scene, but have about 10 lines in 3 different scenes.  I can hardly wait till the performances and they’re still 3 weeks away!  Tevye (Daniel) and Lazar (Jason) are twins.  They like to goof around and it is really fun to hang out with them between scenes.  They think up really fun dances and other crazy things.  I don’t have the dates with me but I’ll post them soon.  Gotta go now but if you want to you can contact me.  If you don’t have my email then ask me for it.

I recently began reading a book called “Do Hard Things.” It is about rebelling against low expectations for teens. The two brothers who wrote it also have a website which is very interesting. I suggest that all readers go to:

www.therebelution.com

It is a great uplifting site for teens.  If you know any Christian teens you should suggest this site to them immediately.  C U L8er!

Hola,

You are probably wondering what “Terere” is right? I know what you are going to say so I’ll answer your question before you have time to ask it. Terere is the cold version of the world-famous Yerba Mate from South America. If someone offers you some terere it means that they think you are cool and want to be your friend. It is similar to the peace pipe done by North American Indians.

Terere is served from a thermos into a guampa with a metal straw called a bombilla. The host takes the thermos and pours the water into the guampa and drinks the water that is instantly flavored by the Yerba leaves inside. Then he refills and passes the guampa on to the next person. If you wish to decline you can simply say, “Gracias,” and they will not give you any more. It is a custom not to drink if you are sick.

You can google search it and find out more if that isn’t sufficient for you.

We got back earlier today. I am tired after two days of traveling on airplanes. I am ready for a power nap. I just wanted to let you know that we got home safely and are still alive. Thanks for your prayers.

Hello,

The trip has gone well, we’ve been here for almost a week. Today is the last “day” here. We leave tomorrow. I will let you know what has happened in the last few days.

We got here late Saturday morning and met Tim, Juan, and Jessie in the airport. We drove to the Hotel and spent an uneventful afternoon at the Hotel. Then we went to a church service that night and met some people and were introduced to the community. The next day we arrived in Church and did some stuff with the nationals later. Every night up to Thursday has had an event at night. We did evangelism all day Monday and a lot of it on Tuesday but with some discipleship. Wednesday was one evangelism and mostly discipleships. Yesterday was all discipleship. We also taught at three schools four times on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Time to go do something, Chao!

Hello,

I’m having Missions Trip trouble!!! It feels like one of those movies where everything goes wrong for one poor character. First off, I’m sick (that doesn’t affect the trip but it’s not fun). Second, there is a Yellow Fever Outbreak in Paraguay just outside of Asuncion. These things just seem to always happen to me. The thing is that I hate, absolutely hate shots. I’ve kicked a nurse before I hate shots so much. Life is cruel to poor sick me. I hope the shots don’t hurt too badly. Hopefully I won’t need any more than that one shot. BTW, if you check out the test church website please leave a comment on my Blog about what can be improved on the site.

Sickly Exiting,

YO!

How’s it going? The odds of you answering are slim but I still feel obligated to ask. I suppose that the Blog isn’t about the reader but the Blogger, right? Oops, I did it again. I can’t believe I’m typing as if I’m actually holding a conversation…hmm, I’ll have to think about that idea. Am I wandering? Drat, I’m still acting like I know you and that you know me and we’re carrying on some sort of Conversation that’s actually only me talking. Egad I need to stop those run-ons. Continue Reading »
